12 Times ‘Always Sunny’ Was More Savage Than ‘Game Of Thrones’
By Erin Qualey
Two Words: Rickety. Cricket.
Sorry, Reek. But you’ve got nothing on Rickety Cricket.
While Reek (aka: Theon Greyjoy) kind of deserved what he had coming to him on Game of Thrones, Cricket didn’t ask for any of this. Cricket is literally the visual representation of the gang’s rapidly eroding morality, and every time he comes in contact with them he earns yet another battle scar.
Once a priest, Matt Mara has undergone the slow and painful transformation to Cricket at the hands of the gang. In eleven seasons of his existence on Always Sunny, he has been excommunicated from the church, teabagged by Mac and Dennis, gotten hooked on crack, had his throat slashed, his face burned, and his legs broken by the mob. And all of this is the gang’s doing.

While Cricket seems to have settled into his life as a deformed street vagrant, we’ll never know what his future might have brought to him if he had never crossed paths with them as an adult. Bringing down a man just for funsies? Now that’s the most savage move of them all.
