Season 13, Episode 3: ‘I Ain’t No Miracle Worker’
Official Episode Synopsis: A car crash at a funeral brings a bickering family into the hospital. Back from New York, Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) ends up caught between Alex and Andrew. While Ben (Jason George) takes on a new parenting role, Amelia helps Meredith and Maggie through a problem.
Doctor’s Notes: Arizona returned to our screens and all was right in the world! Despite the fact that she went to bring Sophia to NY even though she totally won custody and didn’t have to do that, especially because I don’t believe Callie (Sara Ramirez) would have shown her the same courtesy after the way she behaved toward her ex during the brutal trial. But it is because Arizona is just the best and she deserves the nicest of things! Also Ben being formally deputized by Bailey to discipline Tuck was a huge step in their personal and working relationship. Grey’s is driving home the family theme this season and it’s super important!
Extras: I get that putting Sophia in NY some of the time is convenient and gets Arizona off the hook for childcare and stuff like that (since she’ll be getting a new love interest and all) but also, where do Mer’s kids disappear to? Being home at this point in my own recuperation I had some fun facts from my own hospital stay I collected to share!
- Senior residents really do steal cases from the first year residents. I know because that’s exactly what the first year resident told me when I asked a question about my surgery! I found this true fact excessively amusing. Makes you wonder what else is also accurate…hmmm?!
- There’s a real line of scrubs from the show that actual hospital staff wears. So like they wear it in the show and then real life nurses wear those scrubs! It’s like some kind of Grey’s Anatomy inception.
- Anesthesia smells terrible!
You’re definitely over hearing about me at this point, which is good because the rest of my little “extra” notes are all entirely episode related!
