How To Watch ‘Archer’ Season 8, Episode 1 Online

‘Archer’ moves from FX to FXX and gets another revamp for its eighth season ‘Dreamland.’ Here’s how to watch Season 8, Episode 1 live, on TV and online.

Archer is back on Wednesday for a new season but it’s definitely not the show you remember. Adam Reed’s animated comedy is moving from FX to its sister station FXX, and it’s once again getting a new premise.

Season 8 is subtitled “Dreamland” because it takes place entirely in Archer’s head. Fans will remember that he started (and ended) Season 7 shot and face-down in the pool of movie star Veronica Deane. Well, he’s still in a coma, so this season is within his subconscious as he plays out the story of being a private investigator in 1947 Los Angeles.

It’ll be interesting to see how the show performs on its new network. Archer had previously been rumored to move from FX to FXX a few seasons ago as the company looked to bolster the lineup of its younger channel. FXX certainly needs another established comedy after the end of The League, but some TV viewers who get FX in their cable package don’t also get FXX, so will there be a ratings dip as a result? Hopefully not.

Here’s how FXX officially describes the episode:

"Archer tries to find out who killed his partner, but accidentally gets in bed with Mother, a notorious L.A. crime boss."
