What was the song played at the end of Tuesday’s episode of ‘The Americans’? Here’s the Peter Gabriel music used in Season 5, Episode 6.

What was the song heard in The Americans season 5, episode 6? The song played at the end of “Crossbreed”, as Oleg burns the tape and Paige meets Gabriel, was “Lay Your Hands On Me” by Peter Gabriel.

“Lay Your Hands On Me” comes from the singer-songwriter’s 1982 album, also called Peter Gabriel. The record is alternatively known as Security because Gabriel’s label Geffen Records issued the album with a “Security” sticker to differentiate it from his three previous releases, which were also self-titled.

The song was the second track on Side Two of Security, written by Gabriel and according to the record’s Wikipedia entry, is about healing through trust. That would certainly make it appropriate for this episode of The Americans, as Elizabeth and Philip are trusting Paige by introducing her to Gabriel. Oleg, meanwhile, is realizing he can’t trust anyone if he wants to stay out of a Soviet prison.

Upon its release on Sept. 6, 1982, this record peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard Pop Albums Chart. But it also produced a popular single, as “Shock The Monkey” reached the top spot on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Singles Chart. “Lay Your Hands On Me” was never released as a single, but it’s certainly a song that still holds up almost 35 years later.

Fans who want to download the song can purchase “Lay Your Hands On Me” through iTunes.
