‘Bob’s Burgers’ needs a 4th of July holiday episode

‘Bob’s Burgers’ is slowly but surely covering every single holiday but have yet to produce a 4th of July episode. Making one would be a win-win for all.

If you’ve read any articles relating to Bob’s Burgers and holidays, then you know already. The show kicks butt at holiday episodes. This year, they upped the ante by including even more holidays but many are still missing a few. One key holiday missing in their lineup is the 4th of July.

The 4th of July is one of America’s favorite holidays. It’s all about freedom, fireworks and food, something the Belchers need to get on board with. While a lot of the show focuses on food, 4th of July food is completely different because it’s all about the red, white and blue. Just think about the Burger of the Day options alone.

Before I get too ahead of myself, I know what you’re thinking. How can they have a 4th of July episode when their episodes don’t air in July? Valid point but one of the oldest and most-used problem solvers for this is flashbacks. Instead of setting an episode during the month of July, the episode could be set later with Teddy possibly referring an incident at Mr. Fischoeder’s 4th of July party.

I chose Mr. Fischoeder because if anyone can afford and or love fireworks, it would be Calvin. The whole town would be invited including the Belchers. When they show up, hijinks would ensue, probably involving Louise trying to set off as many fireworks as possible. Inevitably, her plan would backfire and cause a problem not for Calvin but for Felix. The episode would more than likely end with Louise’s evil laugh.

The other idea I had for a 4th of July episode would be a parody. Bob’s Burgers has done some legendary parodies in the past and this could be another one. They could parody the Rocky franchise, Top GunCaptain America or The Sandlot. Each has a lot of material to work with and Loren Bouchard is great at knowing what fans want.

The plot wouldn’t have to be exactly the same, but you get the picture. Including a 4th of July episode would only bolster their already esteemed reputation. Look at some of the great shows who already have 4th of July episodes: The SimpsonsWonder Years and Saved by the Bell. If all these shows can manage to work in a 4th of July episode, so can Bob’s Burgers.

Whatever the team decided to do would be great. They have a knack for making their holiday episodes really special so I have faith. It’s unclear if the crew has plans to make one, but we never know. They’ve surprised us before so we’ll have to wait and see.

Bob’s Burgers returns for its eighth season this fall on Fox.
