We want to see Justin Hartley compete on American Ninja Warrior, too

According to American Ninja Warrior host Matt Iseman, This Is Us star Justin Hartley wants to compete on the NBC series. We approve.

More from This Is Us

In the hiatus between the first and second seasons of This Is Us, Justin Hartley has appeared on a pair of popular game shows. First came The $100,000 Pyramid, where he and Chrissy Metz dominated. Then Hartley combined his talents with those of his on-screen siblings when the Big Three stopped by Hollywood Game Night. What’s next?

If Justin Hartley has his way, he will next be putting his competitive side into play on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior. As the sports entertainment series’ host Matt Iseman tells People Magazine, his network mate has suggested interest in trying his hand at the intense obstacle courses. Honestly, if Justin Hartley wants to throw on athletic gear and flex his athleticism, who are we to stop him? The This Is Us star might want to compete on American Ninja Warrior for fun, but all of his fans probably want him to give the course a shot for personal reasons. And there’s no shame in that.

Matt Iseman confessed to People that becoming friendly with the No. 1 show on the network led to Justin Hartley’s desire for the potential crossover:

"“Now we’re buddies with This Is Us. That’s our fellow NBC show. Justin Hartley is like, ‘I wanna come out on the course.'”"

But how does Iseman think Hartley would do on the American Ninja Warrior course, which is well-known for being difficult and not for the faint of heart? Well, it’s complicated. As fit as Hartley might be, Iseman thinks his height will prove a disadvantage. Don’t worry, Justin. We believe in you.

"“Honestly, I think his problem is he’s actually too big. He has a lot of mass. He’s a good athlete, though, and he strikes me as a very competitive guy. I think he’d do very well.”"

Far be it from us to count out Justin Hartley. Also, we raise the hit NBC competition series one more This Is Us star: Throw Sterling K. Brown in the mix and have the Pearson brothers compete together. Now that’s a show we’d tune in for. But with or without the family connection, we would watch just for Justin. Besides, look how much fun he had on Ellen.
