The Night Shift season four came to an end this week and now fans await renewal news from the network.

More from NBC

According to TV by the NumbersThe Night Shift‘s season four finale live and same day ratings are 4.38 million. While this isn’t the NBC’s series’ highest numbers of the season, ratings are still up by 17.68% from last week. The season finale, “Resurgence,” is the third most-watched episode of season four.

Will the ratings be high enough for the network to renew the medical drama for a fifth season? We sure hope so! The Night Shift deserves at least one final season to wrap up each character’s story. Let’s review where season four, episode 10, “Resurgence,” left us off…

TC (Eoin Macken) decided not to return to Syria and stay with Jordan (Jill Flint), not in the romantic way we were hoping, but at least the two will continue working together at San Antonio Memorial Hospital. In a shocking twist, Paul (Robert Bailey Jr.) took TC’s place and went to Syria with Amira. Good for him! This will help him grow and come back an even better man. Shannon (Tanaya Beatty), Paul’s girlfriend, was offered a deal from Jordan, allowing Shannon to return to her reservation’s clinic for six months and then come back to work at SAM.

Meanwhile, Drew (Brendan Fehr) makes the decision to go to the Ranger program after support from his husband Rick. And as for Julian and Scott (Scott Wolf), the two finally came to an agreement and expand their training program to fit the Navy, SWAT, and more. Hospital saved!
