The Moclan ambassador meets with the crew about their decision and potential breach of Moclan etiquette.

There may be a balance of seriousness and joking on The Orville, but Ed and Kelly play off each other in the most unprofessional way sometimes. In a previous episode, Ed asked a Krill officer to step into frame, and then bickered with Kelly about their marriage.

When meeting with the Moclan ambassador, it’s no different. They inform the visiting dignitary that the parents – Bortus (Peter Macon) and Klyden (Chad Coleman) – are in disagreement about what to do with the baby. They agreed until Bortus was visited by Malloy and Lieutenant John LaMarr (J. Lee).

The trio watch Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, and Bortus subsequently changes his mind. Since there is discussion remaining, Ed and Kelly offer to house the ally on The Orville until a decision is made.

Board games have torn families apart, and are not for peace.

They then offer board games to pass the time. Scrabble, Candy Land, and Monopoly are choices, never mind the fact that Moclans likely have a different language and Scrabble is a horrible choice. Monopoly causes the biggest issue, however, because Grayson offers up the car piece to their visitor.

Ed vehemently protests that he is always the car, and suggest the thimble for their guest.

In a time where two worlds collide, with an impossibly complex issue at hand, and a potential decision that could ruin an inter-galactic alliance, it’s nice to know Ed and Kelly are thinking of the important things.

Next: Not nearly as entertaining as The Orville

On the next episode, the crew of The Orville will attempt to make peace after shooting someone.

Look for MacFarlane to keep bringing the hits, Thursdays at 9/8c on Fox.
