Ahead of Larry David’s highly anticipated return to HBO, we’re definitively ranking the seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Everyone’s favorite curmudgeon is back for another round of antics. Following a six year break, Larry David is ready to unleash his particular brand of snark on the world yet again, and we can’t wait to see him in action.

More from HBO

For fans, the wait between seasons 8 and 9 has been long and excruciating. There had been gaps in production before – Curb has had eight seasons in 17 years, after all – but nothing like this. For a time, it wasn’t certain if David was going to be bringing new episodes of the series back to HBO or if he was going to let it just languish on permanent hiatus. Admittedly, stringing a bunch of people along just for funsies would be a very Larry David thing to do, but thankfully he decided to grace us once again with his acerbic wit and hilarious social ineptitude.

In the days leading up to Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9, it’s been reported that Larry David had a “landmine” of material saved up and that this installment might just be the best ever. So, before the newest season is unleashed on the world, we’re counting down the existing seasons of the show.

To get the most objective rankings as humanly possible (Larry would want it that way), we compiled the ratings from each episode on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), and then added the scores up to get a total for every season. Conveniently, each season runs ten episodes long and the IMDb rating is out of 10 stars, so every season had a possible score of 100.

So without further adieu, here are the eight seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm from ehhh to pretty pretty good. Caution, spoilers follow. But you knew that.
