One of my dream crossovers has been NCIS and Supernatural. The shows got a hint of that, but not in the way I ever thought possible.

Travis Wester (our loveable and geeky Harry Spangler) joined NCIS in a guest star role last night. It’s hard as a Supernatural fan not to geek out whenever a recurring or guest character from the show turns up in something else I’m watching. Humming the Ghostfacer tune was something that had to be done, while Wester’s Detective Higgins pulled out all his geeky cop gadgets.

Caution: There are spoilers from the NCIS Season 15 episode “Exit Strategy.”

When 80s rock music was played, I half expected Dean and Sam Winchester to turn up as the assailants. But it wasn’t meant to be. Instead, something even better happened.

More from Supernatural

After Higgins disappeared, one of his geeky gadgets came in use. It recorded him rushing over to a girl, who just happened to leave her fingerprints behind. The Ghostfacers theme tune was definitely needed when Detective Sergeant Sportelli said the owner of the fingerprints had to be a ghost…

Yes, really! The episode Wester was in happened to involve a mysterious case of a former undercover cop who had supposedly been dead for 10 years.

Unfortunately, that’s where it ends for Wester in the episode. It also gets a little more normal as the episode goes on. If you want to know how the episode ended, you can catch the NCIS recap at Hidden Remote.

The NCIS/Supernatural crossover we didn’t know we realized was fun while it lasted. Here’s until the next one!
