The Grey’s Anatomy 300th episode was full of callbacks to the men and women who have come and gone over the years, but one doctor was unfortunately left out in the cold: Addison Montgomery.

After 14 seasons, Grey’s Anatomy celebrated yet another television milestone this season as the 300th episode rolled around one week before the show’s 2017 winter finale. Unlike past milestone episodes, the show managed to send fans on a trip down memory lane with nods to characters who helped to make the show what it is today.

Through the treatment of the three patients who reminded everyone of George, Izzie and Cristina, the doctors of Grey Sloan found themselves reflecting upon their pasts which led to subtle references and homages to the likes of Derek Shepherd, Mark Sloan, Lexie Grey, Preston Burke, Callie Torres and Ellis Grey. As special as the nods to the show’s various alumni were, there was one former Seattle Grace employee who was glaringly missing from celebration: Dr. Addison Montgomery.
During the early seasons of the show, Addison served as the perfect foil to Derek and Meredith’s budding relationship and was the OG OB/GYN – with her expertise in the field making her one of the foremost in the country when it came to maternal-fetal medicine and surgery. After her time on the show, she left to start her own private practice which gave fans the chance to witness her growth over six seasons of Grey’s Anatomy‘s first spinoff but that didn’t stop her from making a few trips back to Seattle Grace here and there when needed.
Needless to say, Addison’s journey was just as impactful as the likes of Izzie, George, Burke, Lexie and Sloan. Despite all of this, Addison was left out in the callback-filled episode with not a single reference made to honor her place in the show’s history.
