Fans of Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie were excited when they learned she would star in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but we didn’t get to see much of her. We expressed our disappointed and director Rian Johnson said the following in an interview on the topic with Entertainment Weekly:
"“Gwendoline Christie is one of my favorite people, and you get to see her in action [in The Last Jedi], which, I think, is going to be really fun. That character is just so damn cool looking. Like, okay, let’s see what we can do with her. Let’s put her in action and see what happens.”"
Fans are stoked! We attended the advanced screening of The Last Jedi and kept our eyes open for Christie. So did Johnson keep his promise?

Yes. But no. Sorta. Here are the details…

Yes, we do see Captain Phasma in action and it’s awesome! We’ll give Rian Johson credit just for the epic scene she shares with Finn (John Boyega). But the scene isn’t nearly as long as we were hoping. Time wise, Christie is in the movie for about the same amount of time we see her in The Force Awakens.

Another plus though, we see her face! Okay, sorta. At one point, she takes a hit and her helmet partially breaks and audiences get to see her EYE. That’s something, I suppose.
Looking forward to checking out Christie’s fighting skills?
Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres Friday, December 15, with early screenings beginning on Thursday, December 14.
