Brooklyn Nine-Nine has proven itself to be one of the best comedies on television, but now it appears it may not last past the fifth season. Even its freshman season was recognized for its superior writing and acting. How many brand new shows win awards that quickly? Since then, it has continued a steady rise above many of the comedies that have not survived the harsh television process.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is able to do this for many reasons. For one, it has the writing pedigree of Michael Schur and many other writers from great series like Parks and Recreation or The Good Place. To my knowledge, there has never been another comedy about cops that has ever lasted this long.
Besides the stellar writing, the series also has one of the best casts on TV today. They are able to pull off the over-the-top comedic moments while still maintaining the heart of the show. Five seasons might be a respectable run, but this series deserves a chance to stretch its legs a little bit further. They have maintained the same basic formula of the series for their entire run and now is the perfect time to give them a chance to change it up. In order to do that though, we’re going to need at least a sixth season. People need to start watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine again and here is why.
