Apparently, Vin Diesel is in talks to take on another superhero role. This time however, it’s in the Valiant Cinematic Universe.

Fans who are tired of hearing “I Am Groot” will be happy to know that Vin Diesel is being eyed for a much bigger role. One that requires him to say more than three words in an entire movie. The role in question is for Bloodshot, a titular character in the Valiant Cinematic Universe.

According to The Wrap, Sony is eyeing Vin Diesel for the part of Bloodshot. The studio is reportedly moving forward with a five-film deal that features Diesel in the leading role. There hasn’t been any confirmation of Diesel signing on, but if The Wrap is claiming that Sony is looking at Diesel for the part of Bloodshot, he’s probably going to get it.

Nevertheless, the prospect of Diesel playing Bloodshot means we’ll see more characters from the Bloodshot comics in the Valiant Cinematic Universe. There’s no telling exactly who’ll join Bloodshot on his adventures, but the comics may provide us with some insight.

Which Valiant Characters Will Show Up In The Bloodshot Movie?

Since the Valiant Cinematic Universe will be based on the Bloodshot and Harbringer comics, the main characters of those two series are the most likely to show up. In lieu of that, here are all the comic mainstays who may appear in either the first Bloodshot or Harbringer features

Don Gino Canelli

Don Gino is the mob boss in charge of the New York crime family which Angelo Mortalli worked for. When he learns that Angelo cheated on his daughter, Gino sets Angelo up for a murder. This betrayal eventually leads to Angelo being kidnapped, and turned into Bloodshot.

Hideyoshi Iwatsu

Hideyoshi Iwatsu is the Japanese scientist responsible for creating the Bloodshot Procedure. He’s an extremely immoral man, with a penchant for experimenting on unwilling participants. Iwatsu tried several times over to get the procedure to work, but all of his subjects died.

The procedure itself consisted of a subject being injected with microscopic computers and nanites. The nanities allow the subject to heal from injury, control the molecular structure of the their body, and augments various abilities. Angelo Mortalli was the first successful test subject. The nanites repaired Angelo’s damaged brain but in turn erased his memory. This lead to Angelo going on many missions to recover what he lost.

Tanaka

As Iwatsu’s right-hand man, Tanaka assists him in anything and everything he needs. Tanaka thinks himself a loyal companion but in reality, he’s a master manipulator. Though, Tanaka’s arrogance leads to him failing with any endeavors outside of his dealings with Iwatsu.

Peter Stanchek aka Sting

Peter Stanchek is the leader of the Harbringer Resistance, a group set on countering the Harbringer Foundation. The Foundation is an evil corporation intent on creating superhumans known as Harbringers. Pete became the second ever Omega level Harbringer to come into existence. Being one of the only Harbringers to trigger his own psionic abilities, Toyo Harada and the Harbringer Foundation took quite an interest in Pete. They attempted to recruit Pete but made a fatal mistake by killing Pete’s best friend. This lead to Pete assembling the Harbringer Resistance, and fighting Harada in numerous bouts after.

Kris Hathaway

Kris Hathaway is one of Pete’s longtime and closest friends. They eventually spark up a relationship which leads to them becoming partners in the Harbringer Resistance. Their relationship reaches some rough patches here and there, but they manage to overcome their difference in opinions. All in hopes of bringing down the Harbringer Foundation.

Toyo Harada

Harada is the only other Omega level Harbringer. Unlike most other Harbringers, Harada possesses a full spectrum of psionic abilities, which include telepathy, pyrokinesis, and various others. Harada is also the founder of the Harbringer Foundation which he established with the intent to save the world. Keep in mind that Harada’s motivations are self-driven and slightly psychotic.

Which Actors Could Play The Live-Action Version Of These Valiant Characters?

Now that we’ve established which Valiant characters are likely going to show up, we can start making suggestions on which actors could play them. And based on Diesel’s casting, Sony is probably recruiting big name actors of the same caliber. With that in mind, here are the actors who’d be best at playing live-action versions of these characters in the Valiant Cinematic Universe.

Ludi Lin as Toyo Harada

Lin has shown both impressive skill in acting and martial arts experience, and he could portray the arrogance we’d need to see in Harada. Although, Lin’s race may come into question seeing as how he’s not Japanese and Harada is. His age might also be a concern, but I could see Lin portraying a younger version of Harada. Or, perhaps an heir to the Harada family. One who becomes psychotic after inheriting the family business. But if not, Brian Tee (Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift) might also be an adequate fit.

Michael Dogulas as Don Gino Canelli

Douglas’ acting credits speak for themselves, but it’s the demeanor he brings to his roles that make him ideal for the role of Don Gino. All he’d need to do is take his character from Wolf of Wall Street and tweak it a bit to make him somewhat of a gangster, more so than Gordon Gekko is. Then, he’d be set to portray Don Gino.

Samara Waving as Kris Hathaway

While Weaving’s name might not be known in all circles, she’s got quite a few credits under her name; the latest being Netflix’s The Babysitter. In that Netflix original, Weaving definitely showed that she has what it takes to hang with the big dogs. A featured role in Bloodshot (or Harbringer) would just be one more credit to add to her ever-growing list of movie roles.

Ken Leung as Hideyoshi Iwatsu

Leung may be a controversial pick for a mad scientist but I could see him pulling it off. Even though ABC’s Inhumans didn’t do so well, Leung’s part as Karnak was one of the only redeemable parts of the series. Plus, Leung has done extremely well in supporting roles over the years and it’s about time Leung take on a titular role, this time in Bloodshot.

Sung Kang as Tanaka

As another veteran of the Fast And Furious franchise, Sung Kang could feasibly be cast alongside his former cast-mate, Vin Diesel. That may not be reason enough to cast Kang in a featured role, but if Sony is recruiting actors with similar experience then Kang would make for an ideal candidate.

Dan Stevens as Peter Stanchek

Another name you might not recognize on this list is Dan Stevens. Despite that, Stevens possesses plenty of experience to draw inspiration from—were he to take on the role of Peter Stanchek. His latest part being in FX’s Legion proves so. In that series, Stevens plays the telepathic mutant, David Haller. So far, he’s only starred in eight episodes of the series but it was long enough to prove he’s perfect to play a different telepath. Although, Stevens’ age may be a concern, seeing as how Peter Stanchek is first introduced in his teenage years.
