The horror studio Blumhouse Productions has been known to adapt most modern horror films, however they are now showing an interest in franchises that shaped horror.

Horror films have seemingly begun to make a proper comeback, with a multitude of genre movies in late 2017, to upcoming projects later this year. One of those projects creating a lot of buzz would be the return of horror legend Michael Myers in the upcoming Blumhouse Halloween project that will bring back the original scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis.

By Blumhouse acquiring an already successful pre-existing franchise, it opened the door for conversations about other possible horror acquisitions. Producer Jason Blum tells CinePOP,

"“Besides Halloween – You know, I really wanted to do Friday the 13th. I would love to do that movie. Maybe someday we’ll get do to that one.”"

While it doesn’t mean anything will be taking off at this very moment, it is promising considering the consistent hold ups on developing another F13 film. And with Blumhouse’s horror reputation, it would be very interesting to see how Friday the 13th could be retold through their particular vision.

Blum has recently shared that he would like to see an Insidious crossover with the Sinister films, and now Friday the 13th. We’ll just have to wait and see how Blum’s Halloween film does with horror fans before jumping to any conclusions.

If you are looking for any Friday the 13th fun in the meantime, the F13 console game is the closest thing you can get to living a real life horror movie – but we’ll still hold out hope for more in-depth discussions on bringing Jason Vorhees back to the big screen.
