Supernatural synopsis reveals new details regarding Rowena’s return

In a newly released synopsis for Supernatural’s twelfth hour, “Various & Sundry Villains,” new details reveal the reasoning behind Rowena’s surprise return!
Last week, speculation regarding Ruth Connell’s looming return to Supernatural was finally put to bed as SPN Hunters confirmed Connell’s credited appearance in Season 13, Episode 12, “Various & Sundry Villains.”
At the time of the report, details surrounding Connell’s return were scarce with our only clue coming via a behind the scenes photos of Rowena outside a pub with Baby noticeably parked in the background. However, thanks to a newly released synopsis for the episode, we now know what brings Rowena back to town!

As revealed in the official synopsis for Episode 12, Rowena returns to the scene after Dean falls victim to the magic of two sister witches, Jamie and Jennie Plum (played by guest stars Jordan Clair Robbins and Elise Gatien). It turns out that the sisters managed to get their hands on a “powerful book of spells” which was in the Winchesters’ possession; a book we’re going to safely assumed will turn out to be the Book of the Damned.
After the book is stolen, the Winchester brothers begin their quest to get it back, which leads them to an unexpected ally in the form of Rowena, who “intervenes to assist them.”
Now that the “why” portion of the equation has been revealed, we’ll be here anxiously waiting to figure out who exactly Rowena returns from the dead – something we assume won’t be addressed until the episode.
