Holly Marie Combs says everything original Charmed fans think about the reboot idea.

The CW announced that the Charmed reboot is back in the works. After originally being picked up and then dropped again amid fan dislike, the project has been redeveloped. While it will certainly call out to some fans, there are many others who just don’t like the idea at all. And it’s not all about the fans, either!

Originally planned to be set in the 1970s about three unrelated female witches, the show will now be set in a college town and about three sister witches. Take out the college town, does the premise sound family? It’s really not that surprising that there are some negative feelings from fans and the show’s cast.

Many want something that features all four of the original Halliwells/Matthews on the show. That means getting Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan back on screens together. Don’t expect it to happen for the Charmed reboot, though. Combs has spoken out on Twitter about her thoughts on the new series, and it’s not good; although epic for fans of the original series.

"“Until you ask us to rewrite it like Brad Kern did weekly don’t even think of capitalizing on our hard work.”"

Combs makes it very clear that Charmed is her baby. Well, hers and her three former co-stars (and the writers, crew and fans). Yes, all four! While Combs and Milano may have been the only two in every single episode, Doherty and McGowan are viewed as equals. Despite everything that may or may not have happened backstage and how the actresses may feel about each other now, Combs made it very clear that the four of them made the show what it is still known as today.

But is this just a case of someone being upset that she wasn’t asked to do the reboot? Unlikely! Combs has a successful career off the back of the series, both in front and behind the camera. While Charmed was her life for eight years, she has moved on. That doesn’t stop her from having feelings about a network’s attempt to capitalize on the series.

And it’s not just that. Combs is clearly irate at the use of “feminism” in the description for the Charmed reboot. Fans have joined her in the thoughts about the reboot, pointing out that the original series was all about female power. It was, after all, about four female witches who saved the world on a weekly basis. They didn’t need the men in their lives for everything—although did turn to them for help now and then, showing that it is okay to lean on partners and friends for support now and then.

The other three Charmed actresses haven’t weighed in on the reboot just yet. However, they did the first time and most weren’t fond of the idea at all. Combs’ stance shouldn’t be that surprising considering how she disliked the idea last year! Chances are fans won’t see the four actresses appear in the reboot unless something major changes.
