The upcoming Cloverfield film is coming very soon, but a new rumor suggests it could be moving to Netflix and a trailer may be headed our way on Super Bowl Sunday.

The Cloverfield franchise is a very unique film universe for giving us a found footage monster flick, then a claustrophobic tale of captivity and alien invasions – but the third film is said to be set in space (with the rumored title Cloverfield Station.) Paramount pictures has changed the release date several times already, but a new report earlier this week claimed that we could be seeing Paramount move the film from the planned theatrical release to the streaming service Netflix.

Deadline noted that in the supposed crop of Super bowl commercials airing next Sunday, Cloverfield will reveal a first look at the project. Formerly known as God Particle, the film centers on a space bound crew that makes a shocking discovery and was later re-written to fit in the Cloverfield franchise similarly to 10 Cloverfield Lane.

Just last week, the marketing campaign began for the film that has been known to draw those who love investigating the ARG methods J.J. Abrams is responsible for in the first place.

As far as the potential Netflix deal goes, it could be a great way to drop a movie for viewers out of the blue, but it does leave more questions as to the future of Cloverfield films that could be developed. Hopefully by the time the trailer airs next Sunday, we’ll have a few more answers – but what we really need is a reference to the original film or a look at our favorite destructive creature, Clover.

Cloverfield 3 is currently slated for a April 20, 2018 release but if Netflix acquires the property there is potential we will be seeing it a little earlier than we anticipated. Make sure to watch for the trailer to surface next week and keep up with Hidden Remote for more on the next Cloverfield!
