Supernatural brings back another old favorite
Dean, Sam and Castiel search for Lucifer, who strikes up a deal with a local faith healer. Elsewhere, Supernatural brings back an old favorite.
Surprise! After 13 seasons, Supernatural still knows how to shock its fans every once in a while.
I was hoping Supernatural would have something special in store for tonight’s episode (season 13, episode 13) and it did not disappoint. WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!
Asmodeus is putting the pieces together to take down Lucifer, even if the Prince of Darkness doesn’t realize it yet. Asmodeus hasn’t been given enough credit, but he seems smarter than most realize, including Lucifer who once claimed he is one of his worst creations. Why?

Because Asmodeus found the archangel blade, the only weapon known to kill an archangel. However, there is a catch: it could only be wielded by another archangel.
And Asmodeus has a fix for that – Gabriel is back.
While many Supernatural fans have speculated over the years Gabriel wasn’t really dead (a theory I believed), we haven’t seen or heard anything about him in years. But since we now know one of the few ways to kill an archangel is with an archangel blade, it makes sense he is still alive. However, he was captured and imprisoned by Asmodeus.
The final scene with Gabriel looking up with what looked like his mouth sewn was chilling. Supernatural fans are thrilled to have him back, but no one expected it to be under this condition.
Asmodeus revealed Gabriel to Ketch, who was sent to kill Lucifer in his weakened state. While Ketch ran into Dean and Sam and didn’t really come close, Asmodeus was working on this back up plan.
Meanwhile, what should have been a thrilling final scene in its own right with Lucifer sitting on the throne to Heaven, turned into a quick after thought at the sight of Gabriel. But we have to get back to Lucifer. He spent the episode attempting to restore his grace, first killing a cupid and then leaching off of Sister Jo (Danneel Ackles), who turned out to be an angel.
Sister Jo and Lucifer are a good fit. Both are selfish and only out for self-preservation. Whatever feelings they may be having during their sexual-like encounters of Lucifer siphoning off her grace are going to implode. Sister Jo is only good for Lucifer while he needs to restore his grace and Lucifer is only good for Sister Jo while he is in power. Both of those will eventually end.
The 13th episode of Supernatural’s 13th season wasn’t filled with gore or horror. But it did have one the scariest things that we could have ever imagined.

The angels let Lucifer back into Heaven with the promise that he will make them more angels and get them back their wings. I guess the angels are really that desperate for angels.
Interestingly, the title of the episode, “Devil’s Bargain,” could have been related to a number of different characters: Sister Jo and Lucifer, Winchesters and Ketch, Ketch and Asmodeus, the angels and Lucifer. Take your pick. Supernatural had all of its characters making unlikely deals in hopes of getting their biggest wishes.
So while everyone is making terrible deals that they are going to regret, there is just one thing to remember right now – the Trickster is back!
Tune into Supernatural on CW Thursdays at 8/7c.
