Why do we still not have The Man in the High Castle season 3 release date?

While 2018 is off to a great start for television, one show still has fans wondering and waiting when it is coming back. The Man in the High Castle, the Amazon Prime Original, is still to announce when it will release its third season and fans are beginning to become impatient.

An official sneak peek for the third season was released during New York Comic-Con in October last year and it was expected that a release date would follow soon after. Expectations then moved to early January but that has now been and gone with no new announcements.

Seasons 1 and 2 had been released by now

The previous seasons of The Man in the High Castle had dropped at the tail end of 2015 and 2016, so it was expected that season 3 would have been released by now. Filming was taking place in June 2017, and with the sneak peek stating the new season would be

in 2018, a winter release looked likely.

So why do we still not have The Man in the High Castle season 3 release date?

*Update May 29, 2018* While there is still no official announcement it looks like a fall release date is now like for The Man in the High Castle season 3.

Whatever the reason is, Amazon is keeping it quiet. Nothing official is coming out of camp High Castle with all information still promoting the “coming in 2018” announcement.

One possible reason for the delay is the Winter Olympics. Most networks take this time off from their usual content to promote the worldwide event. Viewership also drops during this time from normal programming, as people are watching the Olympic games.

Considering Amazon Prime is one of the smaller streaming services they might wait until after the Olympics has finished before releasing the third season. Therefore not losing any potential viewers to the games.

Another idea is they are waiting for the Olympics to get going before making the announcement. The Olympics bring in a large number of viewer’s meaning a larger audience to promote the upcoming season. Amazon may want to announce when the release date when there is the hope of larger viewer numbers. More people aware of the show will mean more potential viewers.
