Supernatural is going into a Hellatus, but it isn’t the only one you need to know about before the end of Season 13.

As so many other TV shows right now, Supernatural is going on a break. Hopefully the big reveal at the end of the last episode was enough to keep the show in your mind for the next three weeks, because it’s the last new episode you’re getting until Mar. 1.

Yes, that’s right! For the rest of February there are no new episodes of the Winchesters battling evil. It’s not going to be easy with all those twists and turns. The main reason for this mini-Hellatus is the Winter Olympics, but it’s not the only one coming up. There will be at least one more. Hopefully the second will just be the last, although there’s no confirmation just yet.

How long are the two mini-Hellatuses?

This current one is going to last for three weeks. On Mar. 1, Supernatural Season 13, Episode 14 will air. “Good Intentions” will feature the Apocalypse World again and we’ll finally get to see what Apocalypse Michael has done to Mary. Apocalypse Bobby will also appear. Yay!

The week after that, Episode 15 will air. Little is known about this so far, so hopefully The CW will release a synopsis soon!

After this the show will go on another small break and will return on Mar. 29 with the long-awaited Supernatural Scooby Doo crossover, “Scoobynatural.” This is an animated episode and around the timing that SPN Hunters expected the episode to air.

Why are there two mini-Hellatuses this year?

Usually, Supernatural goes on a break around February and March for four or five weeks. This is to finish up the last bit of filming and to make sure that the season lasts until May. If the show continued without a break, it would end mid-April. We don’t want that, do we? Plus it wouldn’t be the best quality since some of the filming and editing would have been rushed. That we definitely don’t want!

So, the show goes on a break February or March for four or five weeks in a row. That break has been split into two shorter breaks instead this year. The shorter breaks are to allow for the Winter Olympics and then to finish up the filming.

Will there be another Hellatus after?

There shouldn’t be another break after this, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet. When the show returns on Mar. 29, it will have eight episodes left. If one episode per week aired, this would mean a finish date of May 17, which is about the same for the last few seasons. It’s actually standard for other networks, too.

What’s going to happen during the breaks?

During the upcoming breaks, we may hear some news about Supernatural Season 14 and the spin-off Wayward Sisters. This isn’t likely to happen during the Winter Olympics, as it’s already a busy time and the news of both would be saturated. So unless it was bad news, the renewal decisions may come during the second mini-Hellatus.

There will be reruns of Season 13 during the breaks. Next week will show “Breakdown,” which set up Donna’s storyline to move to Sioux Falls to be with Jody and the girls. “Various and Sundry Villains” will air the week after, so you get another dose of Rowena’s return.
