Every Olympics gives the world a chance to show off the potential of the human athlete and for everyone else at home, it gives us a chance to be amazed. Whether you watch the Olympics for the joy of sport or to mock the insanity of feats like the luge, it is still one of the most watched things on TV every time.
These Winter Olympics have only been going for a handful of days now, but we’ve already seen new world records set and firsts for many nations, like Mirai Nagasu’s first female American triple axle performed in the actual Olympics and the third woman overall in the world. According to the reports from PyeongChang, we’ve seen temperatures that feel like negative 30 Fahrenheit with the wind chill and winds so strong that they are knocking snowboarders over on their runs.
Hopefully, these sporting events let us get into the goings-on around the world without the usual heat of divisive politics. The reactions I’ve chosen here today are all about people appreciating human talent and the fun had when we compare average humans to these other-worldy skills and accomplishments. Let’s take a look at how the internet is reacting to the 2018 Winter Olympics.
