Cobra Kai, a name that represented an antagonistic group of 80s high school bullies, has been brought back in a YouTube Red comedy series. Do you think content that’s comedic could be translated to the small screen? A teaser trailer just broke today and it looks interesting.
Last year, The Hollywood Reporter gave a synopsis saying that Daniel LaRusso has gone off balance since Mr. Miyagi is no longer in his life. Johnny Lawrence was last seen at the conclusion of The Karate Kid handing the trophy to Daniel and saying, “You’re alright, LaRusso!”
Now, it’ll be 30 years since that memorable day and you’d think they’d be pairing off as allies instead of enemies. Now, Johnny will be reopening the Cobra Kai dojo, “seeking redemption” according to THR.
The final act of The Karate Kid appears to have taught the 80s bully a life lesson and from there the YouTube series is picking it up 30 years later. However, The Hollywood Reporter said that the two will be reprising their roles as bully and underdog once again.

That said, one couldn’t help but wonder about a synopsis similar to that of The Average Joes vs. Globo Gym in Dodgeball. Hilarity ensued when that comedy debuted, so there’s no telling what kind of YouTube quality comedy will spring forth from this series.
Cobra Kai will be 10, half hour episodes releasing this year as LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Lawrence (William Zabka) continue their rivalry on YouTube.
