The final few episodes of The Gifted have seen Polaris (Lorna) and Eclipse (Marcos) going through an extremely rough patch in their relationship. Okay, if we’re being honest, most of it has looked rocky — but the closing of Season 1 was surprising nevertheless.
Lorna, throughout the show, has shown a propensity for violence. And as time has gone on, and things have gotten worse between humans and mutants, she has only turned into more of the survivalist we’ve seen evolving since the beginning.

At the end of the season, though, we saw her reach the height of that train of thought as she ripped apart a departing plane on which psychopath Dr. Campbell, and anti-mutant presidential candidate, Senator Montez, were traveling. She then left the scene, seemingly also leaving Marcos, and the life she formerly knew, behind.
The final moments of that episode only seemed to confirm her final trajectory as she re-appeared briefly, alongside the Frost sisters, in an attempt to recruit any mutants she could, to join her in the rebuilding of the Hellfire Club. In the end, she succeeded in winning four mutants over — one of them, shockingly, being young Andy Strucker.
That was the last time we saw her and Marcos together in the same room. Marcos, as the story goes, did not leave with her, fearing the path she was taking. Instead, he painfully watched as the woman he loved, the pregnant mother of his unborn child, walked away from him.
Next: The Gifted Season 2: Will Dr. Campbell (Garret Dillahunt) return as AHAB?
It seemed, for all that we could tell, that this would be the end of them. But according to some timely Valentine’s Day news, we haven’t.
Apparently, their love, however difficult and complicated it may be, will survive.
The Gifted Season 2 will return to FOX.
