It’s not every day you get to see something you cherish growing up come back to you after it’s gone. To have Roseanne return to network television is not only a blessing, but to have the original cast is more exciting than I could have hoped.
Since the debut return is on March 27, I decided to timeline the original characters from where they first start to where they will continue to go. Bringing in those that we fondly remember, Roseanne, Dan, D.J., Becky, Darlene, and Jackie. I will also touch on those that drove the story forward: David, Crystal, and Beverly (Roseanne’s mom).
In one last tribute, I will bring in the minor characters that will also be coming back: Anne-Marie, Chucky, Nancy, and the second Becky, who will now be the surrogate to the original. Then the newcomers, Mary (DJ’s daughter), Mark (Darlene and David’s son), and Harris (Darlene and David’s daughter).
Second up Dan Conner…
John Goodman was a natural selection for Roseanne when finding the right actor to play the part. In old screen testing videos, you can see the chemistry right from the start. It is hard-pressed to find another on-screen couple that has this kind of mutual attraction. This is one of the things that made the show special. We got a first-hand look at what character couples experience in close to real life situations.
Dan is the father of two daughters (Darlene and Becky) and two sons (DJ and Jerry). A family man who always looks to be responsible first, but never can maintain that dedication due to enjoying life. He is Roseanne’s anchor, and his kids work to manipulate him over their mother.
He is a hard worker. Creating his own dry-wall company “Four Aces” and later owning a motorcycle business that unfortunately ends up failing. Then, he works for the city fixing school buses and other vehicles.
As a sports fan, he shares his love for sports mostly with his daughter Darlene and occasionally with DJ. He is a Chicago fan through and through, as well as BlackHawks, Bulls, and Cubs. He is a typical man as he finds it frustrating when they don’t do well, as he snacks on chips and drinks his beer. Dan loves to have his friends over and bond over playing poker.

He loves to banter with his wife and is a witty family man. He has a special relationship with each one of his kids. Sports with Darlene, understanding and compassion for Becky, and a strong bond with DJ.
In season eight, Dan has a heart attack as he attends his daughter’s wedding. We learn in season nine that he has survived. However, by the end of season nine, we find that Dan indeed died. How they solve this situation will be interesting in the reboot. Season 10, we will see that he is a Trump supporter as well as Roseanne. Outside of that, we are unaware of what will transpire for him and his relationships with his grandchildren.
