When does Station 19 premiere?

Station 19 is the latest addition to the Shondaland #TGIT line-up. During the Shondaland crossover event, the series will essentially air its pilot episode! But when does it actually air?

The original series is no stranger to this type of format, when it followed Addison (Kate Walsh) from her days at Seattle Grace to LA for Private Practice. But there is one fundamental difference. Addison left Seattle and with that she left behind the whole world. Of course there is has been plenty of overlap – including, but  certainly not limited to, Amelia’s (Caterina Scorsone) move from her intro on Private Practice to Grey Sloan Memorial. However, there are a few fundamental differences with this latest spin-off that add an interesting element to Shondaland.

Station 19 is literally a few blocks away from the hospital. And as we’ll soon find out, the doctors and firefighters know each other quite well, making this particular crossover wholly original. And more importantly, something that will continue as long as both series are on the air.

Obviously that’s to be expected given the fact that Ben (Jason George) is married to Bailey (Chandra Wilson), but it’s clear the series will not be strangers to the hospital. It’ll be interesting to see how that develops as both shows diverge over time, but we’re looking forward to the newest addition to the Shondaland fam!

Tomorrow’s crossover is really more of a premiere episode, as we’ll get to know the newest heroine – Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) and the rest of the firefighting team of Station 19! The series is expected to be 10-episodes. But the big question is, after the crossover with Grey’s Anatomy, when can we expect the series to air on its own?

The official premiere date for Station 19 is Thursday March 22nd. What is technically episode 2 will feature a two-hour special at 9 (don’t worry Scandal fans, the series moves to the 10pm slot for the remainder of the series). The episode will once again feature familiar faces from Grey Sloan Memorial as the series gets going with its big plot, mainly watching Andy assume the leadership role when her father is unable to continue as captain. It’s sure to be as much fun as all the other Shondaland series and we can’t wait to see more!
