Could Elon Musk be working on Iron Man suit?
By Ryan Mekkes
Remember that time Elon Musk hinted that he was building an Ironman suit? Well, what if he actually is? Could the Space X and Tesla CEO be working on something in the shadows?
That’s what he said, referring to what his Summer of 2016 meeting with the Pentagon was about — no doubt a reference to the fact that Robert Downet Jr. modeled his Tony Stark/Ironman character after him. But when a man of the mental capacity of Elon Musk jokes about things like that, the crazy thing is there is a chance that it could be true.
Now, according to CNN, the purpose of that meeting was so that the government could chat with Musk about technology. They supposedly may have conversed about Space X as well. But I have a feeling the convo could have been a lot more fun than that.
Regardless of whatever that meeting did or didn’t entail, though, the question remains: could he be making an Iron Man-style suit? If so, it would be the most impressive feat of his already stacked resume — here’s why.

Since we don’t have Iron Man’s Arc Reactor, the suit would have to be powered by fuel and batteries. The batteries would help the individual (ahem… Elon Musk) move the heavy metal suit, and they would also power the optics. The fuel would then hypothetically allow the suit to fly, though that would be the tricky part.
Those batteries would have to somehow be contoured inside the suit as to allow for the greatest amount of battery + distribution because that thing would need a lot of power. Placing some sort of solar panels outside the suit would probably be a way to keep it going as long as possible, so the individual (ahem… Elon Musk) wouldn’t have to stop by one of those Tesla power docs every fifteen minutes.

Now, the whole flying thing is a serious issue, as the amount of fuel/thrust/power the suit would need to begin and sustain flight would be just about impossible to provide. But as I said before, we’re talking about Elon Musk here… the guy is smart.
The suit would also probably have to be pretty large to be able to hold the fuel tanks/jet engines it would need — think a little smaller than the suit Stark used against The Hulk in Age of Ultron. And the batteries would have to aid the flyer (you know who) to keep his arms locked in position during flight.
The metal would likely have to be titanium since we don’t have any of those lovely, fictitious Marvel metals that weigh as much as a feather and can withstand a hit from an RPG. Titanium, though, is lightweight and is almost completely bulletproof, so take that Stan Lee.

The catch is, this all sounds great, but the chances of someone actually being able to create a metal suit that could sustain flight, are low… very low. But maybe the one person who has the mental capacity, and the resources to do so, is Elon Musk.
All I’m saying is that if you happen to find yourself confronted with evil aliens/robots in the near future, don’t be surprised if he comes flying to your rescue. Can you see it?
