By Callum Gunn
Unfortunately, NBC’s Timeless is not off to a very good start when it comes to the viewership figures.

After a rollercoaster ride of cancellation, uncancellation, and then the agonizing wait of when the show would return. Season 2 of Timeless premiered on Sunday, March 11, and, unfortunately, it has not gotten off to the start it would have ideally wanted.
It was an action-packed premiere. Filled with a bit of everything for everyone, the episode itself was great. The acting was on point, and the script on par with the best. There was suspense, drama, comedy, romance, action, and more. An introduction to the history of Marie Currie also featured in the episode along with a great set up of for the rest of the season.
It was even trending various times on social media thanks to all the fans, cast, and showrunners live tweeting during the episode. However, the viewing figures where down and they are sadly, the ones that count the most. No matter how good the show is. If it doesn’t have the viewers it will not last long.
The figures
As outlined via TV Series Finale, the premiere episode of Timeless season 2 was down, way down.
Ratings for the 18-49 demographic are sitting at 2.97 million viewers. That sounds like a lot, and really it is, but when you compare it to the year before, that number is down by 35.77%. That’s roughly 1.5 million viewers down, give or take a few hundred thousand.
It’s not something Timeless will be overjoyed at seeing, because if they are already performing worse than last year then it wouldn’t come as a surprise if they were cancelled again, and this time it would probably stay cancelled.
It is only the first round so there is plenty of time to improve on those figures and keep the show alive. Personally, I would like to see that happen as the only thing bringing the show down is the live viewer numbers. They have the story, they have the talent and they have the fans.
If you want to help Timeless improve and get to season 3. Co-Creator Erik Kripke explained how you can do just that. You can see that in the link below.
