The Orville is currently filming season 2, and there has been music in the air. Could this point to a musical episode in the near future?

More from FOX

It’s already been established The Orville is full of musical talent. Seth MacFarlane is well known for his ability to sing. He’s able to perform in a variety of voices, and has legitimate chops as well. Furthermore, cast-mate Scott Grimes is a well established singer with incredible range.

In fact, Grimes has toured world-wide with Russell Crowe in their “Indoor Garden Party”band. Additionally, his work on American Dad has been phenomenal. Anyone who hasn’t heard “Daddy’s Gone” may not realize they have a small piece of their heart unfulfilled.

Grimes has mentioned he’d love to do an episode in which the cast is on an alien planet where singing is paramount. He had this to say about his wishes:

"It would be great because you’d have to sing, because nobody would understand you unless you had the melodic flow. That’s my idea. I would love that."

Who else on the show can sing?

Chad Coleman, who plays Klyden, recently revealed he also has some musical talent.

Could a duet with Bortus (Peter Macon) be in the near future? After all, the “Cupid’s Dagger” episode already let viewers know there is karaoke on board The Orville. What’s more, we are all still waiting for Bortus to prove to us he can emulate Celine Dion with his rendition of “My Heart Will Go On.”

Maybe duets are on the agenda?

What’s better than a solo singing episode? Duets! Indeed, battling duets would be even better! Bortus and Klyden versus Ed and Kelly sounds great. By the same token, John LaMarr (J. Lee) might just be able to sing harmony for Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes). That leaves Alara (Halston Sage) and Isaac (Mark Jackson), which works because he’s already offered her sexual services for “research purposes.”

We can only hope The Orville has a musical episode in season two. All things considered, it would be a stellar episode. And if the episode ends with Bortus eating the microphone, all the better.

If this dream episode happens, I’ve got odds on Isaac. He undoubtedly can synthesize just about any voice. He could also auto-tune anything, and ain’t nobody got time for that domination. As long as Bortus eats the microphone at the end of the episode, however, that’s all that really matters.
