These are the 5 new shows worth checking out in April 2018

Spring is well underway and there is more than one reason to be excited. With the arrival of April, comes a handful of new TV shows to look forward to. Here are 5 to look out for!

Spring Break might be over but there is no need to be upset. There is still plenty to look forward to in April, including the premiere of a handful of new TV shows. Netflix might have the most standout list of new and returning series but there are plenty of notable newcomers on the horizon.
TV show fanatics may have heard a few of the titles on this list as a few of them have previously aired in other countries. The others have been in production quite some time and the anticipation has only increased since their initial production announcements. The wait is over, here are the shows worth checking out this April:
1. The Last O.G.
Starring: Tracy Morgan, Tiffany Haddish, Cedric the Entertainer, Allen Maldonado, Ryan Gaul, Taylor Mosby, Dante Hoagland
Network: TBS
Premiere Date: April 4, 2018, at 10:30/9:30c
The TBS comedy officially marks Tracy Morgan’s return to a TV series. The actor and comedian survived a near-fatal accident in 2014 and it was a long road to recovery. The series focuses on a man named Tray (Morgan) who recently returns to his Brooklyn neighborhood after serving 15 years in prison. Not only does he find that the neighborhood has been gentrified but his ex (Haddish) is now raising his kids with her new husband (Gaul). Alos noteworthy is the fact that the series is co-created by Jordan Peele.
2. Howards End
Starring: Hayley Atwell, Matthew Macfadyen, Tracey Ullman, Julia Ormond, Philippa Coulthard, Joseph Quinn, Alex Lawther
Network: STARZ
Premiere Date: April 8, 2018, at 8/7c
The four-part miniseries has already premiered in the U.K. on BBC One late last year and now it is finally making its way to the United States. The series is based on the 1910 novel by the same name by E. M. Forster. The tale focuses on two sisters at the turn of the 20th century in England. As members of different families start to interweave, the sisters deal with the social order of love and life. The series has already garnered positive reviews for its period piece portrayal.
3. Lost in Space
Starring: Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Ignacio Serricchio, Taylor Russell, Maxwell Jenkins, Parker Posey, Mina Sundwall
Network: Netflix
Premiere Date: April 13, 2018 (all episodes streaming)
Netflix is taking a crack at rebooting a beloved classic TV series. Lost in Space is a modernized remake of the sci-fi series focusing on a family whose spaceship crashes on an unknown planet. The Robinson family and fellow space colonists are stranded in the year 2046 and find themselves lightyears away from the targeted destination. Along with finding a way off the planet, they must deal with the dangerous environment, The memorable robot from the original series will make an appearance but in an updated form.
4. Rellik
Starring: Richard Dormer, Jodi Balfour, Paterson Joseph, Ray Stevenson
Network: Cinemax
Premiere Date: April 13, 2018, at 10/9c
Another previously aired BBC One series that is soon making its way to the United States, this time on Cinemax. Rellik (“Killer” spelled backward) is a truly unique series in that the storyline plays out backward. The drama follows a police detective, Gabrial Markham (Dormer), on the search for a serial killer who uses acid when he attacks. Markham happens to be one of his surviving victims who is still suffering physically and emotionally from the events. The series will start with the takedown of the suspected killer and then explain the events in reverse over the six-part series.
5. AMC Visionaries: James Cameron’s Story of Science Fiction
Starring: James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ridley Scott, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Christopher Nolan
Network: AMC
Next: 5 TV shows to watch on Netflix in April
Premiere Date: April 30, 2018, at 10/9c
The six-part docuseries will give film lovers a better look into the life of the critically-acclaimed filmmaker, James Cameron. With numerous standout films under his name, Cameron will take a deeper dive into the history of science fiction and how it has affected the world of pop culture. There will also be interviews with fellow sci-fi powerhouses who are memorable for their roles behind and in front of the camera.
