Last week on Shadowhunters, the mysterious Owl demon possessed more mundanes to help Lilith with her ritual to bring Jonathan back to life. The Shadowhunters got a bit further in figuring out Lilith’s plan to gain control of the lay lines, but it was thanks to Alec and Magnus that the demonic presence was able to be overtaken by the Institutes’ Angelic Core.
We also met the new High Warlock of Brooklyn, Lorenzo Rey, who was honored at a party in his own mansion, surrounded by many of the warlocks who reside in the borough. We know Lorenzo is supposed to be a rival to Magnus, but we kind of love having him around (and it curiously makes the bond between Alec and Magnus stronger — and funnier).
In this week’s episode, “What Lies Beneath,” Jace, Clary and Izzy will be on the hunt to find the Owl demon, while Alec and Magnus prepare to host Maryse for dinner. Both parties will be in for a surprise when things take an unexpected turn, but if you ask us, it’s Raphael’s storyline that steals the episode. Trying his best to manage people and situations that are out of his control, Raphael is tested emotionally in Shadowhunters season 3 episode 3, and we promise his performance is going to tear at your heartstrings.
