Twin Turbos exclusive: Father and son do rock-crawling Jeep research
It’s time for the DeBertis to build their Rockcrawler on Twin Turbos, but first they need to do some rock-crawling Jeep research in this exclusive peek.
The Discovery Channel brings a new episode of Twin Turbos tonight and this week it’s all about the Rockcrawlers. The father and son team wants to build their Rockcrawler, but this is something they have no experience in. Rather than waste money on parts that won’t work, they decide to do some research and that means calling on a local rock crawling club.
In this Twin Turbos exclusive, you can catch the two tagging along to a rock crawling club meet-up. They experience the trek over rocks first-hand, watching how the tires evolve while working over each of the rocks and learning where to hold onto as they go for their bumpy rides.

Rockcrawlers are the type of vehicles that climb over literally anything, even up walls! However, this isn’t just a quick project. It will take plenty of cash to make this work, and the DeBertis want to make sure that cash goes in the right places. And, of course, they don’t want their build to look like any normal Jeep!
After the experience of going over the rocks, the father and son duo takes a look at the aftermath. There’s nothing wrong with the driveshaft and other components afterward, making it clear they need to put a lot of work in to create a rock-solid vehicle that can withstand the drops from the rocks.
“Everything in this drive train’s gotta be bomb-proof,” Doug states during the peek, and he certainly isn’t wrong.
