Milo Ventimiglia’s The Art of Racing in the Rain adds Amanda Seyfried and Kevin Costner

Amanda Seyfried and Kevin Costner join Milo Ventimiglia for The Art of Racing in the Rain, the latest leap to the big screen for the This Is Us star.

It looks like Milo Ventimiglia just got a new on-screen wife. Don’t worry, This Is Us’ Jack and Rebecca Pearson could never be replaced. But for the sake of his latest big screen role, Ventimiglia will test his chemistry with another high-profile actress. Amanda Seyfried, who you know from Mean Girls and Mamma Mia! (among many others), joins the upcoming adaptation of Garth Stein’s novel The Art of Racing in the Rain.

As if Milo Ventimiglia and Amanda Seyfried weren’t enough star power, the cast rounds out with Kevin Costner. However, the two-time Oscar winner will not appear onscreen. You might be wondering “How?” Unless, of course, you read the book. The Art of Racing on the Rain centers on Enzo, the family dog who learns lessons from his race-car driving owner Denny Swift (Ventimiglia) and his wife Eve (Seyfried). Costner will provide the voice for Enzo as he reflects on his life.

The Art of Racing in the Rain comes from director Simon Curtis, who helmed such film favorites as My Week with Marilyn, Woman in Gold, and last year’s Goodbye Christopher Robin. The film also counts Neal Moritz (The Fast and the Furious franchise), Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey, and Tania Landau (21/22 Jump Street) as producers.

Based on those hefty credits, Ventimiglia and his all-star cast are in great hands, and we’ll surely be reduced to mush in the theaters. There’s no word as of this writing of a filming timeframe or a release date, though we can anticipate to learn the art of racing in the rain within the next year.

You can next catch Milo Ventimiglia on the big screen in a supporting role in Jennifer Lopez’s latest romantic comedy Second Act hitting theaters in November. Amanda Seyfried will next star alongside Ethan Hawke in June’s First Reformed and follow up with July’s Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the sequel to the original 2008 classic. Meanwhile, Kevin Costner will switch gears in the Paramount Network’s new drama series Yellowstone this June.
