Lucifer: What will Pierce do now?

Pierce has finally got what he has always wanted on Lucifer. So what will he do now?

Pierce finally got what he also wanted. After trying since the dawn of mankind, quite literally, Pierce no longer bears the Mark of Cain, or the Mark. How he lost it exactly is still unclear, I have my own thoughts on the matter, but that will probably be cleared up soon.

However, now that he is no longer cursed, what will he do next? What will the man, who has always wanted to die, but couldn’t, so now that he can? Will he choose to die or choose to live a new life?

Pierce and Death

Pierce has always wanted to die. That has been clear ever since we learned who he really was on Lucifer. He has been trying for a long time now and has attempted every way you can possibly imagine, including falling into a pit of molten lava. All have been unsuccessful.

Now that he can die, whether he will choose to do it or not will most likely depend on one thing: Chloe. Actually, two things: Chloe and Maze. Let’s look at Chloe first.

We last saw Pierce manipulating Chloe to fall in love with him. The idea being that she truly loved him then the Mark may be removed. Once it disappeared he would then leave her. Pierce realized in the last moments that he couldn’t do that to her. He himself cared too much for her, maybe even loved her.

So if Pierce has found love, he may not be willing to die any time soon. He may wish to live a normal life and grow old with Chloe. Assuming she will take him back.

Then there is the issue of Maze. Pierce struck a deal with her. She helped him manipulate Chloe and he would help her get Lucifer back. There was also the discussion between both Pierce and Maze that when the time came he wanted it done quickly.

Assuming they were talking about his death. Now that he is able to die he will have to convince Maze to go back on the deal presuming he wishes to no longer die. Something which is possibly going to come up in the next episode of Lucifer.

Maybe he is ready

There is always the possibility that Pierce is ready to move. In the next few episodes, we could possibly see him about to come out of Lucifer. The season finale is just around the corner so you never know. Showrunners may decide that this is the right time and moment for him to move on.

I don’t think that is going to be the case. I personally believe that it will be a case of he has finally got what he always sought, but now that he has it, he no longer wants it. A scenario that Lucifer himself may latch on to and learn from with his constant feud with dad (God).
