When you’re not watching TV or movies, but can’t get enough of them, try checking out some podcasts. Here’s a list of recommendations for TV and film podcasts to check out.

In college, I started to get into podcasts and it snowballed from there. I’ve since hosted three podcasts of my own, with Welcome to Geekdom still being ongoing. As I’ve been writing more about television and film, I’ve come across some great ones to listen to.

The podcasts that I’m about to recommend cover things from the business side and from the fan/critic perspective. There are more than I’ll mention on this list, so there’s always going to be a TV and film podcast for you to find and enjoy. Plus, you shouldn’t feel the need to listen to every single episode. I only have a couple on the list that I listen to every episode for, but for the others, I pick and choose based on the guest or topic.

The Watch

The first one I want to mention is The Watch because this is one that I’ll listen to every episode of. Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan dive into film and movies with such passion that even if I’m not interested in a topic, I usually listen anyway. I’ve been following Andy Greenwald for a while now (he used to cover music once upon a time) and I’ve always enjoyed his work whether it’s writing, podcasting or even his work on season one of Legion.

The Big Picture (Channel 33)

Channel 33 is the main feed for all things pop culture at The Ringer. However, it’s The Big Picture that’s caught my attention lately. Filmmakers will join the show to discuss their recent works and there’s plenty of great conversations about film in general. I recommend just subscribing to the feed and checking out some of the other shows they have on there, too, since this isn’t the only one that involves film and television.

The Writers Panel with Ben Blacker

Ben Blacker takes us into the world of creating television shows and movies with The Writers Panel. This is another one that was part of Nerdist, but has recently moved. The quality of the show hasn’t changed at all and if you want some insider information on the business behind the shows and films you love.
