Claws season 2 premiere date set by TNT
Weeks ago, TNT announced that the Niecy Nash led drama, Claws, would be returning this summer. Now, we finally have a concrete date.
Mark your calendars Claws fans because Desna and the crew will be back on your screens before you know it! Last year, TNT ran the Claws premiere on the heels of an NBA Finals game and this year they will come very close to doing the same. The first episode of season 2 will air on Sunday, June 10th. Depending on how the NBA playoffs go, this could end up being the night of an NBA Finals game.
The show may owe a good bit of its success to the NBA playoffs. Viewers tuning in to the games were bombarded with promos last year and the same is occurring this year. Claws outperformed Animal Kingdom in the 18-49 demographic last year and looks to continue to carry the torch for TNT’s summer programming. The show was renewed just halfway through its first season and the last three episodes of the season generated its highest ratings. Season 2 will look to build upon this momentum.

What is Claws about?
Claws follows Desna Simms (Niecy Nash), who runs a nail salon in South Florida. Her shop is currently not in the best area and she has dreams of opening one downtown. Somewhere along the way, however, she got mixed up with the mob and has been laundering money for them. She had an out date but when it’s not honored her options are limited. She and her crew: Polly (Carrie Preston), Quiet Ann (Judy Reyes), Jennifer Husser (Jenn Lyon), and Virginia Loc (Karrueche Tran) have to figure out how to get out from underneath the mob, without ending up dead or in jail.
The show also stars Dean Norris (Breaking Bad) as “Uncle Daddy,” the leader of the Dixie mafia. Harold Perrineau (LOST) plays Dean Simms, Desna’s brother who has autism and is cared for by her. They grew up in the foster system and only have each other. The show’s characters are complex and that’s what makes the show great. Almost every character has multiple layers that make you appreciate their motives whether you agree with them or not.

Where can I watch?
Currently, the first season can be streamed on the TNT website, however as of May 11th Claws will be available exclusively on Hulu. That gives you a full month to either catch up or refresh your memory before season 2 is released.
Season 2 of Claws will premiere on TNT Sunday, June 10th at 9/8 Central.
