The scene in Avengers: Infinity War no one is talking about

Avengers: Infinity War left fans with a lot to discuss, but there’s one scene not enough people are talking about.

(Please note major spoilers are ahead if you haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War in theaters)

There’s the case of Hulk, the surprise of Red Skull, and, of course, the tearful ending and multiple deaths. But that only scratches the surface. Infinity War is packed with so many characters and amazing scenes, it needs to be watched twice — even if just to listen to the follow-up jokes you missed while laughing at the first. In all seriousness, though, now that we’ve seen the movie and know what happens, we need to rewind and analyze a few characters. I’m specifically referring to Dr. Strange. However, this feature isn’t about the Doc, it’s about Tony Stark and Pepper Potts.

Not a lot of fans are talking about it: Is Pepper Potts pregnant?

Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is introduced in Infinity War walking in the park with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow). Before Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) ruin their moment, Tony is telling Pepper about a dream he had. Tony shares that the dream was so vivid, he woke up believing it was real. The dream? He and Pepper had a baby and they named him Morgan. Tony woke up wondering if Pepper was pregnant and asks her, but she tells him that she isn’t.

More from Marvel Movies

The next time we hear from Pepper in the movie, Tony is on Ebony Maw’s ship when he receives a call from her. She’s not happy that he’s running off to save the world again (chill, Pepper, the world depends on Tony), and demands that Tony get off the ship. The call drops as the signal is lost due to how high up Iron Man is.It’ssimply

Pepper made it clear she isn’t pregnant and even gives Tony a hard time about it, telling him that if he really wanted to be a dad he wouldn’t be Iron Man. But even if she says she isn’t pregnant, could she be? YES!

It’s not like the Marvel Cinematic Universe to include a line without it meaning something.  Everything is said for a reason. Everything serves a purpose. Not to mention, Tony’s dream is told in too much detail for Marvel to have just made it up for no reason. It’s one thing to dream you’re a dad, and another to dream you have a baby boy and you name him Morgan. I really hope they change their mind on the name of the baby, though. But, point is, Pepper has to be pregnant.

There’s a chance she’s lying, but if she isn’t, Pepper could be in the early stages of pregnancy and simply doesn’t know she’s pregnant. But even if she isn’t YET, she will be. Why? Time travel.

Still with me? Thanks!

It’s possible that Pepper really isn’t pregnant IN Infinity War. She more than likely vanished along with the others at the end of the movie. We know thanks to set photos that the remaining heroes will go back in time to reverse what Thanos has done. This means everyone who died in Infinity War will be brought back (probably everyone), including Pepper. Except this time, she’s going be pregnant.

I don’t expect everyone to return and be the same. We’ve learned from multiple TV shows and movies that time travel messes things up (I’m looking at you, Flash). Take a look at Tony’s hair in the set photos from Avengers 4 HERE. It’s different, because it’s a different time. Iron Man could bring back a different version of Pepper. Still the same Pepper, but pregnant-Pepper!

Whichever way they go with this, Pepper is pregnant. The real question is: Is Marvel setting everything up to break our hearts? Should we prepare ourselves for emotional distress in case Tony dies in Avengers 4, leaving Pepper and Iron Baby (that’s what we’re calling him). Maybe Marvel will give us the gift of a happy ending — a retired Tony Stark enjoying time with his family.

Someone has to die, though, and as much as we love Steve Rogers/Captain America, all signs point to him. Take a look at the clip below (at 3:15):

Next: Every record broken by Avengers: Infinity War

Tony is considering settling down with Pepper. Living “the simple life.” Steve, however, tells Tony that he had those same dreams, but they went down 75 years ago and he is now different. Out of the two, Steve is more likely to make the ultimate sacrifice. Not that Tony wouldn’t, he’d do anything for the greater good, but knowing what Tony would be leaving behind, Steve wouldn’t allow it.

What do you think? Are Pepperony expecting? Is Iron Baby on the way?

Avengers: Infinity War is in theaters now.
