A second season of ABC’s American Idol is definitely happening. Which judges are returning? Will we get to see Ryan Seacrest in the host seat again?

It’s official; ABC has renewed American Idol for Season 2. It will be the 17th season overall, after the move from FOX to ABC earlier this year. The news isn’t that surprising, but now fans want to know who will return and if anyone will go.

The great news for fans of all the judges and Ryan Seacrest is that American Idol Season 2 will keep everyone. That’s right; all have chosen to sign on for another year to find the next musical star of America. You’ll get to see Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan continue to select and mold contestants of all ages.

No other details have yet been confirmed, but the news comes ahead of the next round, which will see the Top 7 battle it out. It’s Prince/Birth Year Night for the contestants, so they’ll be doing two songs. One of those will be a tribute to the late great musician and the second will be a song from the year that they were born.
