David McCallum’s future on NCIS has been questionable for some time now but we finally have an answer to will he be in NCIS season 16 or not.

NCIS just wouldn’t be the same without Ducky. David McCallum has been around since day one and even the idea of him leaving is just to difficult to think about. However, NCIS Season 15 has made us ask the question, is he leaving or not?

Thankfully, after months, and I do mean months, we finally have an answer to the question you have all been asking.

More from CBS

Yes, David McCallum will be back for Season 16.

David McCallum will be in NCIS season 16

McCallum made the announcement via his official Facebook page that he would be returning for at least another season, accompanied with a picture of his cute cat, Nickie.

I say “at least” because McCallum’s message has now raised a question about any other future seasons. While NCIS has not been renewed for a season 17, anyway, McCallum’s return to NCIS is only for a limited schedule.

I am delighted to say that I have reached an agreement with CBS for Dr. Donald Mallard to stay with NCIS for Season 16….

There have been unverifiable rumors that McCallum has been suffering from ill health. If these were true, coupled with the limited schedule return, it could be possible that the actor is making a phased-style exit from the show.

Regardless of a limited schedule or not, we are all just happy that McCallum is returning to NCIS for season 16. It’s sad enough that Abby is leaving. I don’t think many fans could cope if Ducky left almost immediately after.
