Lucifer canceled: Will Netflix save the day?
By Callum Gunn
Lucifer canceled by Fox. Will Netflix swoop in and save the show from its cancellation fate?
After the shock cancellation of Brooklyn Nine-Nine by FOX yesterday. It looks like the network is in a bit of a cancellation shock frenzy as Lucifer is now the latest show to be axed. Fans are understandably upset, including this one here, and many are now looking at Netflix hoping they will come and save the day.
With the season 3 finale of Lucifer only days away, concern of how the series will now end is justified. Fears that many questions will be left unanswered. The show would not have been able to answer them all in one single episode, even if they knew about the cancellation ahead of time.

So will Netflix come in to save the day? Or is Lucifer gone for good?
Will Netflix save the day?
It is something the streaming giants certainly can do. They did it once before with Unstoppable Kimmy Schmidt when the series was overlooked by NBC. That went on to be a proven success so evidence does show that even if one network thinks the show is not worth it doesn’t mean it’s not.
However, amongst all the ongoing cancellations, Netflix can’t be expected to save everything. Yesterday’s cancellation of Brooklyn Nine-Nine has already seen calls for Netflix to pick up the comedy series. So that is only one show that Lucifer would have to compete with. There will undoubtedly be more.
There are others
Our natural instinct is to look towards Netflix, however, there are other networks who could pick up the show. The streaming service Hulu is one such network. Other major primetime networks and even smaller ones may think the show is worth continuing as well.

It’s too early to tell right now. The decision was only made public a few hours ago, so we will need to see. But while we can all beg and plea for Netflix to keep Lucifer alive, (ha, never thought I would say that) there are some other options as well.
