The much-anticipated spinoff Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists has released it’s first trailer and plot details. What can PLL fans expect from the new show?

It was less than a year ago that Pretty Little Liars came to an end after seven seasons. Most fans were bittersweet on the choice to end the show – it had been extremely popular among young adults but there was a consensus from even the most hardcore fans that the -A storyline had run it’s course.

Shortly after the show’s finale, Freeform announced a spin-off titled Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. The show would star Sasha Pieterse and Jannel Parish, but other details about the spinoff were kept under wraps. We now have a first trailer and some plot details that provide us with a look at what PLL fans can expect from the spinoff.

Check out the trailer below!

If you were expecting the series to follow Alison and Mona laying on the beach sipping mai tais after the traumatic events of PLL then you are in for quite a shock. See, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists shares more than just it’s main characters with the original show – it also shares a penchant for a body count.

The Perfectionists will follow in the original show’s footsteps by crafting a nail biting murder-mystery right from the beginning.

The series will pick up after the finale and will see fan-favorite characters Alison and Mona in a new setting: the mysterious and secretive town of Beacon Heights. The plot is officially described as follows:

"In Beacon Heights, a seemingly perfect town, a group of three college friends struggle with the stress of being overachievers. In the aftermath of the town’s first murder, each Perfectionist hides behind a secret, a lie and an alibi."

Sounds like Alison and Mona will find themselves in quite a familiar situation as they become part of a murder investigation yet again. It is unclear at this point if other Pretty Little Liars characters will appear in the series but the smart money would be on yes – especially considering the way things ended between Alison and Emily in PLL’s series finale.
