Lucifer star Tom Ellis is blown away by the #SaveLucifer fan support
Lucifer star Tom Ellis is blown away by the fan support for the recently canceled Lucifer.
When Fox chose to cancel Lucifer, just days before the astonishing season 3 finale cliffhanger, the grassroots #SaveLucifier social media campaign has lit up social media. This has not gone unnoticed from Lucifer star Tom Ellis.
This show of love and support has clearly delighted the talented and charming actor who that portrays Lucifer Morningstar, calling his dedicated fans “relentless” on Twitter.

Admitting to that he normally would have “moped” a few days before moving on, but the #SaveLucifer support, which includes an online petition, has clearly energized the Welsh-born actor.
Ellis told the Radio Times that the #SaveLucifer campaign has fueled the conversation, and has “galvanized” those involved with the show to not give up so easily. It appears that the Lucifer family, including Ellis, are energized by the fan support.
"“I think there would have been a lot of disappointed people… but it really has galvanised. This whole thing has galvanised us to at least try."
Tom Ellis has been incredibly active on Twitter, as are the #SaveLucifer supporters who are asking another platform to #RenewLucifer.
Ellis comments on tweets and often retweets posts by the determined Lucifer devotees, further endearing himself to his passionate fans. In fact, he even joked on Twitter that the overwhelming online enthusiasm has “crashed” his phone, as he continues to rile the masses with his devilish enthusiasm.
"“Not sure if you’ve crashed Twitter yet but you’ve definitely crashed my phone It literally can’t keep up…You guys are Rampant! And I love it #SaveLucifer #PickLuciferUp”"
Seemingly sparked by the energy of fans around the world, Ellis has been invited on several television programs to speak about the #SaveLucifer and #PickUpLucifer campaign.
His TV appearances appear to further sustain Lucifer fans’ enthusiasm. They believe their favorite show could get picked up by another channel, just as Brooklyn 99 had earlier in the month.
When Tom recently spoke to the BBC to discuss the overwhelming response from fans, he explained that when the show was canceled, he was actually on a flight from Rome, where he was basking in the glow with Lucifer fans. The cancelation was a total shock. Yet, the fans really picked him up with their determination to get Lucifer picked up elsewhere.

The BBC inquired on some of those network possibilities. Ellis stated that the CW was not an option as he explained a bit about the business of television. When the interviewer inquired whether or not streaming services like Amazon, Netflix or Hulu are interested in picking up Lucifer for a fourth season, Ellis seemed much more optimistic.
While the Miranda actor could not reveal whether “conversations are or are not happening,” what he did say is that a conversation is being “sparked” by those very fans that are posting on social media their wish to save Lucifer.
Apparently, there are no offers on the table as of now, but Tom seems to indicate that there is a momentum going on, giving fans hope that Lucifer could be back for a fourth season, resolving the startling cliffhanger.
The season 3 finale ended with Lucifer showing a shocked Chloe his devil face. Of course, fans want to know what is next!
Is the #SaveLucifer campaign working? It appears that the energetic fan effort is already beginning to pay off.
On Monday, Fox announced they will air a 2-hour bonus episode of Lucifer on May 28, starting at 8 p.m. ET, entitled “Boo Normal/Once Upon a Time.”
Next: Lucifer makes the weekly social list proving #SaveLucifer should succeed!
Tom Ellis tweeted “I can feel a trending coming on #SaveLucifer,” with a link to the announcement of the bonus episode. Is this a hint of another, more exciting announcement?
