Is Fox going to officially cancel Ghosted?

Despite surviving Fox’s cancellation bloodbath thus far, there has been little to no mention of the Adam Scott/Craig Robinson starring Ghosted. But is there hope?

Fans of the freshman sci-fi/cop comedy have been patiently waiting for new episodes for months now. With the last new episode having aired way back in January, there seemed to be some anticipation building for the remainder of the season, since Fox hired Paul Lieberstein as the new showrunner and upped the episode count from 10 to 16. But with no word on when the show would return, we are left to scratch our heads and wonder if Fox has ghosted us themselves.

After the initial axing of five shows, including much-loved series like Brooklyn Nine-NineLucifer, and The Last Man on Earth, it was noticed by TV analysts that Fox had neglected to mention the fate of two comedies in their first seasons, Ghosted and LA to Vegas. But at their upfront presentation last week Fox chairman Dana Walden said they “haven’t made a decision” on the fate of the two series. According to Deadline, and confirmed by star Craig Robinson, Ghosted will return with new episodes soon, with Walden saying “we still have episodes to air in July.”

News broke last night (May 21) that Fox had decided to pass on another season of LA to Vegas with TheWrap reporting that next fall’s lineup left little room for the struggling comedy produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. While this news doesn’t necessarily scream good news for Ghosted, one less series to compete with for a time-slot does take a little stress off the situation.

It is very possible that Fox is waiting to see how the Paul Lieberstein helmed episodes go this summer before doubling down on another season. I’m interested in seeing how star Amber Stevens West’s pregnancy will affect the upcoming installments. Will the writers try to write it into the storyline or will they just cover it up with baggy clothes? Either way, I can’t wait for Ghosted to come back!
