In the Season 5 finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daisy Johnson managed to save the day once again. No one saw it coming and the end result gave her an amazing boost in power.

All season long, fans had been wondering how Coulson and his team would prevent a bleak future from coming to pass. Up until recently, all signs were pointing to an infinite loop of the same apocalypse. Luckily, that dystopian future has been prevented by Daisy’s quick thinking.

During the Season 5 finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daisy Johnson found herself in an all-or-nothing battle with Glenn Talbot. He’d become power hungry after merging with the Gravitonium and was beyond saving. Daisy didn’t immediately come to this conclusion but after practically being absorbed by Talbot, she realized what had to be done.

With Talbot strapped to her back, already starting the assimilation, Daisy had few options. She tried to break free of Talbot’s grasp but the Gravitonium kept her pinned. The situation looked grim for Daisy until she injected herself with the Centipede serum.

Daisy steals the Centipede Serum and injects herself to beat Talbot

At the time, the serum was thought to be at the SHIELD base. In reality, Daisy swiped the serum from the case and kept it with her. She likely intended to inject Talbot with it to neutralize his powers but her instincts told her to consume the serum herself. The result was short of extraordinary.

After injecting herself with Centipede, Daisy lit up like a Christmas tree. The connective tissues in her body ignited, identically to how Extremis works. At the same time, Daisy’s strength doubled.

One of the pros to Centipede is that it grants the host additional strength and endurance. Daisy being an Inhuman probably received an even larger boost. That aspect is debatable but her fight with Talbot cemented where she stands in the superhero rakings.

Once Daisy powered up with Centipede, she broke free of Talbot’s hold and proceeded to pummel him into the ground. Talbot turned the fight around for a split second, only to be blasted into space by one of Daisy’s directional quakes. Talbot then froze as he entered the cold depths of space.

In the end, Daisy was victorious, as well as in possession of a new set of abilities. She’d need time to master them, though most Extremis powers are triggered by rage — and Daisy has plenty to go around.

What kind of powers does Daisy have now that she’s infused with the Centipede Serum?

In terms of the power set she has, they’re likely derived from Extremis. The Centipede serum is an upgraded version, giving us a clear set of powers to accompany it. The most prominent of them are the pyrokinetic abilities, best put on display in Iron Man 3.

Apart from “flaming on”, the Centipede serum has also given Daisy the ability to regenerate at an accelerated rate. This will definitely come in handy when she’s using her Quake abilities since they cause fractures in her arms. Being able to regenerate while quaking will also increase the duration Daisy can quake before her arms become too weak to continue. Altogether, Daisy’s new powers added to her Inhuman abilities make her one of the strongest superhumans on Earth.

All things considered, Daisy powering up could earn her a place alongside the Avengers. She has a decent moral compass and her abilities speak for themselves. They’re definitely in need of additional help and Quake would be ideal for that. Plus, Daisy seems like she’s too powerful to be on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. anyway.

Unless Daisy’s new powers are somehow taken from her, she’ll be able to overpower any threat her team encounters in Season 6. There’s always a villain that can outwit the SHIELD Agents but in terms of power, Daisy probably has them all outclassed. Therefore, the logical thing for Daisy would be to jump over to the main MCU with the Avengers. Of course, that may be hoping for too much.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 6 airs later this Fall.
