This movie weekend was interesting! It was week two of Deadpool 2 vs Solo: A Star Wars Story. Who came out on top? Han Solo. But its victory is nothing to brag about.

What did you catch in theaters this weekend? Before, Star Wars fans crowded theaters to catch another chapter of their favorite galaxy. That wasn’t exactly the case for Solo. Movie theaters, even on opening day, appeared closer on the solo side than packed. There’s still one more day (today, Monday, May 28) to add to the extended Memorial Day Weekend box office, the latest Star Wars Story won’t be breaking any records as previously predicted.

In its opening weekend, Solo made almost less than half of what experts calculated. With approximately $83.3 million (domestically), it places the film second after Rogue One‘s $155 million weekend. Overseas, Solo gathered $65 million, making its grand total $148.3 million, still not as much as Rogue One‘s domestic sum.

The thing is, though, Solo is not a bad movie. It’s highly enjoyable and all character are amazingly portrayed. So what happened? Do moviegoers need a break from big blockbusters (Infinity War, Deadpoolor from Star Wars? Let’s hope it’s the latter, because there are many more amazing summer movies to come!
