5 shows to watch while waiting for iZombie Season 5

It’s the first Monday without a new episode of your favorite zom-rom-com and it definitely feels empty. Here are five shows to fill that void while you wait for iZombie Season 5.

Monday nights feel empty since the iZombie Season 4 finale last week. Once more, I’m so grateful that the show is coming back for another season, even if the finale would have worked beautifully as a series finale (although I do wish Levon would have lived). Now that my Monday nights are free, it’s time to look for ways to fill the void. It’s going to be a long wait until 2019.

The five shows on this list are a mixture of old and new. There is something for all interests that you could gain from iZombie, whether you love the zombie story, the comedy, the detective side of things, or the young adult elements. Here are five shows to watch while waiting for iZombie Season 5.

5. The Walking Dead

Was there really going to be another show on the list first? The Walking Dead is the perfect way to spend your time over the next few months. After all, there are eight seasons to currently catch up on and a ninth on the way. Plus, it’s all about the zombies and surviving the virus, which will certainly appease those who loved some of the darker twists of the more recent season.

Once you’re done with The Walking Dead, you can try the spin-off prequel Fear the Walking Dead. This will give you 3.5 seasons of programming to get through.

4. Santa Clarita Diet

Netflix is the place you want to go for another zombie program. This time, it’s a comedy show and does focus a little more on just living with the zombie virus. Oh, and there are twists when someone doesn’t get enough brains to survive, which iZombie covered in the first season.

Santa Clarita Diet stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant (who also produce), as a wife and husband team. Barrymore’s Sheila is the zombie, who has to figure out life with this strange disease.

3. Veronica Mars

Veronica Mars is an oldie but a goodie. Honestly, if they want to revive anything, can it be this? While it may not be on air right now (except the odd rerun), it is on Amazon, so you can stream and binge to your heart’s content. You get all the mystery with a young adult twist, perfect for the Liv fans.

Plus you get Jason Dohring back on your screens. I’d have liked a little more development on how Chase Graves was losing it, just because I love Dohring on screen.

2. Supernatural

When you want something on the creepy side but still with some humor, turn to Supernatural. The series is another CW mainstay, going into its 14th season in the fall. It’s actually the longest-running series on the network and started before the network was even born.

For those who haven’t heard of it yet, Supernatural is about two brothers who hunt the supernatural. Zombies do come into it, but they’re not the same types you’ve come to know and love in iZombie.

If you’re missing your Ravi fix, there are a couple of British actors who show up now and then. Also, Season 13 has iZombie‘s Rita/Gilda.

1. Riverdale

Another CW show and this time quite a new one. This is for the young adults out there who love creepy, mysterious, crime-solving shows. Riverdale is based on the Archie comics and all starts with the mystery of who killed Jason Blossom. That question is answered by the end of the first series and it’s a new mystery for the second.

A third season is coming in the fall (woop woop!), so there’s another mystery to unravel then.
