Shadowhunters: Fans rallying to save series, here’s how you can help

After a surprise cancellation, Shadowhunters fans are organizing in hopes of saving the beloved Freeform drama; here’s how you can join the fight to save the show!
In a twist no Shadowhunters fan saw coming, Freeform has announced its deacon not to renew its beloved supernatural drama for a fourth season; instead announcing that the second half of its third season will now be its last.
"“We are very proud of Shadowhunters, a series that broke new ground in the genre world and became a fan favorite,” Freeform said in a statement announcing their decision to cancel the beloved drama. “However, along with our partners at Constantin, we reached the very difficult decision not to renew the show for a fourth season. But, as big supporters and fans ourselves, Freeform insisted on and championed the filming of a special two-part finale that would give devoted fans a proper ending. The twelve episodes will air in spring of 2019. We want to thank our talented creators, producers, cast and crew along with our colleagues at Constantin for their hard work and dedication and to Cassie Clare for her incredible book series. We look forward to the final chapter of this breakthrough drama.”"
While it’s not uncommon for shows to be canceled with no notice – in fact nearly 40 shows were canceled on broadcast channels alone this past season – Shadowhunters fans have quickly established themselves as one of the most vocal fandoms in the industry and the show has been a key staple for Freeform.
The Battle to Save Shadowhunters Begins!
Needless to say, the surprise cancellation sent Shadowhunters fans into a frenzy as they quickly took to social media to voice their frustrations with the decision and begin the fight to save the series by launching the #SaveShadowhunters campaign.

In fact, within hours of the news breaking #SaveShadowhunters was a trending topic worldwide as fans across the globe took to social media to vent their frustrations and rally for the show to be saved. So how exactly can you do your part to help make an impact and show Freeform and the series’ international home Netflix it’s worthy of a fourth season?

The most obvious and easy way to get involved in the battle to save Shadowhunters is to take to social media platforms such as Twitter. Tweet about your desire for more episodes/seasons of the Freeform hit and be sure to use the #SaveShadowhunters hashtag along with the hashtag #Shadowhunters.
Remember to keep things short and sweet and not begin using too many random stray hashtags as it’s all about being organized. Putting efforts into keeping the #SaveShadowhunters hashtag is key in showing Freeform we aren’t ready to say goodbye.
Speaking of Freeform, fans should also be sure to tag the network (@FreeformTV) and their country’s Netflix handle (@netflix, @NetflixUK, @NetflixLAT, @NetflixBrasil, etc) while tweeting so that the network and streaming service can see just how passionate our desire for additional seasons is!
Leave Feedback & Reach Out
Aside from being active in tweeting about the efforts to save the show, an often overlooked method of showing support for a canceled series is by leaving reviews where possible such as on Netflix or Hulu – the latter of which serves as the series stateside home.
Drop a review of the show and let your voice be heard by channeling support in the form of reviews on services which house the series. You can also contact your country’s Netflix – or Hulu for US fans – via email to show support and encourage the services to save the series by voicing support for the series. Just remember, be polite as rude emails won’t make any difference.

Put Your Signature to Good Use
Finally, there is the age-old classic: the fan launched petition! Following the show’s cancellation, fan Serena Leslie launched the Save Shadowhunters Petition in an effort to rally fans and show Freeform the power of the fandom. Signing the petition is simple, yet affective and sharing the petition online via Facebook and Twitter is yet another great way to get the word out there and rally your fellow fans.
