Critical Acclaim: Critics at Rotten Tomatoes simply seem to have no love for Sandra Bullock’s romantic comedies! At the site, it only has a 24% rating. It did fairly well when it comes to nominations, though. Hope Floats received a Blockbuster Entertainment Award nomination for Favorite Actor and Favorite Supporting Actress. The film was also acknowledge at the Young Artist Awards for Best Performance in a Feature film (which it won) and Performance in a Feature film by a Young Actor under the age of 10.

About the Role: Sandra Bullock stars as Birdee Calvert Pruitt, a Chicago housewife who learns her husband is having an affair with her best friend. Adding insult to injury, she finds out live on national television. Looking for a fresh start, Birdee moves with her only daugther to their hometown of Smithville, Texas.

Simply the Best: Bullock delivers an emotional performance as a struggling single mother who is trying to make something out of herself. She discovers how important the power of family is as she attempts to rebuilt a relationship with her estrange mother.
