Incredibles 2: What exactly are Jack-Jack’s powers?
By Sandy C.
Incredibles 2 is here! And with it, the answer to one of the mysteries 2004’s The Incredibles left us with — what exactly are Jack-Jack’s powers?
If you haven’t seen Incredibles 2 in theaters yet, you probably have plans to go watch it sometime this weekend. After all, it’s been a fourteen year-long wait for the sequel. Why would you want to wait any longer?
The Incredibles introduces the Parr family, Bob (Craig T. Nelson), Helen (Holly Hunter), Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dash (Huck Milner), and Jack-Jack (Eli Fucile). Each member of the family, with the exception of Jack-Jack, shows off their powers in the movie so audiences know just what they can do. The mini super, Jack-Jack, however, gives us only brief snippets of each of his abilities. Because unlike his parents and siblings, Jack-Jack has many superhuman skills. What are they, exactly? Incredibles 2 goes into more detail….
Spoiler alert for those who have yet to watch the movie!
Really, final spoiler warning.
In the first movie, Jack-Jack knows Syndrome is not a nice guy when Syndrome takes him away from his family, so Jack-Jack lets Syndrome have it. The baby unleashes several of his powers — busting into flames, turning into steel, and transforming himself into, what can only be described as, a demon baby. Bob, Helen, Violet, and Dash watch from below, but they aren’t able to get a good look at what exactly is going on.
Before the attempted kidnapping, Kari, Jack-Jack’s baby sitter, also got a taste of the baby’s powers. However, with Kari’s memory erased by Dicker, assuming the girl imagined it all, Jack-Jack’s abilities are kept secret. Until a few nights later while under the care of Bob.

To us, it’s been 14 years, but not to the Parr family. So it’s only a few days later that Jack-Jack uses his powers again as Bob stares in shock, but also ecstatic to learn his youngest son is also a super.
Note: If you’ve seen the special Jack-Jack Attack, you’ve pretty much seen most of the baby’s abilities.
So what are they? In a scene in Incredibles 2, Helen can’t believe she missed her son’s first display of superpowers, but Bob informs her she missed “the first 17.” Seventeen powers? Wow! If there’s a third movie, we can’t wait to see them all! We didn’t get to see all of them, but we did learn he can…
- Burst into flames
- Clone himself over five times (did anyone count?)
- Jump to other dimensions
- Teleport
- Go through walls
- Levitate
- Shape shift
- Turn into steel
- Super strength
- Laser vision
- Be super adorable (this counts, right?)
Next: Will Incredibles 2 be on Netflix?
My theory is Jack-Jack won’t have all of these powers in the end. With super abilities in his genes, these skills could simply be acting out. When the baby is a bit older, he may only end up with one or two of the above powers. But if he doesn’t, villains, look out!
Incredibles 2 is now in theaters.
