Yu Yu Hakusho 25th anniversary edition reveals new art

The upcoming Yu Yu Hakusho anniversary release has revealed new original artwork for the first Blu-ray collection.
As we’ve previously celebrated, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the massively beloved anime series Yu Yu Hakusho. The series has been known to be one of the best examples of an action anime, with intense battles and emotional turmoil proving its legitimacy as a cult classic from beginning to end.
Even two and a half decades since it originally premiered, the popularity has only grown by earning dedicated fans in the US and Japan as one of Funimation’s most popular titles and a major acquisition for Hulu. Though the creator Yoshihiro Togashi has moved on to the much lighter Hunter x Hunter, he has shown the series a little love by aiding the upcoming release of the sets to include two new OVA’s.

The OVA’s will depict the introduction of Hiei and Kurama, followed by the penultimate chapter of the manga that was skipped over in the original anime series. The follow-up animation won’t be included until the final portion of the re-release (a Demon World tournament saga) which is slated for October – but the first Blu-ray set will be available soon enough from Japan, starting July 27.
A first look at the series collector’s set shows off the inside of the bundle, the number of discs and newly crafted artwork that is specifically used for this anniversary edition. This marks the first actual glimpse (excluding the OVA’s promotional images) of the Blu-ray and will certainly please fans high expectations for a proper Yu Yu Hakusho release.

If we’ve learned anything from the immense love of the fans, it’s that Yu Yu Hakusho still has a lot of steam left and we’d love a chance to see Togashi make a larger scale return in the near future.
